A few words

Sometimes, we all just need those few words of encouragement to keep us going. So here’s to those who may need it.

To those who are on the brink of giving up – Don’t. Don’t you ever give up. Keep on fighting. Remember the reason that kept you from giving up, remember the reason that made you hold on for so long. Think about why you started in the first place. Don’t let go, hold on a little tighter. You’re doing such a great job, you just can’t see it yet, so just keep going because I know you can do it. If it doesn’t work out for one day, get some rest and try again the next day. The sun goes down but eventually it will rise again and so will you. You can do this, you’re stronger than you could ever imagine. You can do it.

To those who are suffering from heartbreak – It’s okay to hurt for a little while, but eventually you’re going to have to pull yourself together and accept it as it is. It’s hard but don’t dwell on it, because this too will pass. The world is bigger than one person. You will be happy again, you will be yourself more than ever, you will understand yourself better when you heal. No matter how heavy your heart feels, you know deep down that this will pass and you will be okay. Take it slow, one day at a time. Before you know it, you’ll be yourself again. You’ll be able to smile and laugh again. Don’t worry, it gets better.

To those who are feeling worthless – You are most definitely not worthless. You are enough. You are always enough, so don’t sell yourself short. You’re amazing and full of so much untouched potential. There is literally nothing in nature that blooms all year long, so do not expect yourself to be any different. There are people out there who are proud of who you are and what you’re going to eventually become. So don’t you ever consider yourself worthless because whether you’re aware of it or not, somebody considers you as their something. Regardless of who you are, what you’re going through and what you’ve done, there will always be a place that considers you worthy.

To those who feel that no one cares – Someone out there cares. Don’t you ever think that no one cares, you’re just not looking hard enough. It could be your mother, your father, your neighbour, your sibling, your friend, the stranger you exchange smiles with. Even if it’s not them it could be your dog or your cat. Just don’t ever say that no one cares because it is an incredibly false statement. You have yet to meet everyone in this world so please don’t come to the conclusion that no one cares, because someone out there does. There will always be someone who is willing to put aside what they’re doing and care for you. Heck, I care.

To those who are feeling lost – It’s okay to feel lost, it’s normal and everyone feels it here and there. It’s okay to stray far but just remember that it is only temporary and one day you’ll realise the direction in which you want to travel in. Don’t ever think that you’ll always be lost or you’ll never find out where you want to be, because that is false. You’re still finding yourself and it’s okay to take as long as you need to discover yourself. You’re doing exactly what you’re supposed to be doing so don’t stress. Just remember that every day is a step in the right direction, although it may not be clear now, it will be soon enough. Just keep doing your thing, it’s going to be okay.

To those who are angry – Take a deep breath. Think about it, will it matter in a year? If not, let it go, it’s not worth your time. If it does, will displaying signs of anger achieve any positive outcome? Take a few steps back to see the bigger picture. You can’t see your reflection in boiling water, so what makes you think you can see the whole situation in your current state of mind? If it need be, let it be for a day, and come back the next. Nine times out of ten your mindset will be different and it wouldn’t anger you as it did the day before. If you still feel upset about it, give it another day, and come back the next. Rinse. Repeat. Keep doing it until it no longer bothers you. Move on, because chances are, it’s definitely not worth your time. Take a deep breath, you have better things to do.

To those who are just hurting - Just remember, no pain lasts forever. You’ve heard people say it countless times but it’s with good reason, things get better with time. You’ll come out stronger than before, trust me. Think of breaking a bone as an example. It hurts. But the body adapts and it heals and becomes stronger so that it doesn’t happen again. In order for the bone to mend itself and become stronger, there has to be the process of breaking it. Your bone can’t heal itself and grow stronger without breaking in the first place. There has to be pain somewhere in the process. The same goes for you, you’re just going through the process of breaking, but don’t fret because you’ll come back stronger than ever. You can’t have one without the other. So get some rest because it will get better, things will be alright and you’ll be okay, I promise.

It’s okay to take your time. Whatever you’re doing, it’s perfectly okay to work at your own pace. Take as long as you need to figure things out because you shouldn’t feel as if you’re being rushed by anyone or anything.  You’re not obliged to work things out based on someone else’s preferred schedule. It’ll be fine, take as long as you need to be okay.

Even if this message only applies to one person, I hope that person manages to find some encouragement from this. You got this homie!

    1. I didn't get around to reading this until a week or two after but nevertheless, I can't thank you enough for warming my heart so much. Thank you for showing so much support in something I love to do so dearly, as your undivided appreciation continues to motivate me to do it.

Thank YOU for being one of those people who share these words around. I would have never thought that this post would have picked up so much and to this day continues to receive views, and it makes me happy knowing that my words can provide hope in times of darkness. Admittedly, I wrote this during a time where my life wasn't the brightest. I realised that sometimes I find myself comforting people with the very words I find comfort in - in realising so this post came about.

In saying so, things have turned around for me and it has been truly enlightening, and just like it has for me, it definitely will for you too. Thank you so much, whoever you are, for I deeply appreciate you.
